Nathan Peprah-Annan has re-signed for Wimborne Town, eliminating fears the defensive lynchpin was set for a return to Dorchester Town.

Peprah-Annan was dual registered with Wimborne and Blue Square Bet South Dorchester last term. He impressed during the Dorset Cup Final meeting between the two clubs sparking speculation that he would be playing at the higher level next term. But following discussions with Steve Cuss, Peprah-Annan made the decision to pledge himself solely to Wimborne in the new season.

Also re-signing is striker Tom Jeffes, another of Cuss’ prize captures last term.

The duo’s decision to remain at Cuthbury takes the total of re-signed players so far to 12. More of last season’s squad are expected to stay, while Cuss is also expected to secure new blood during the summer.

Bournemouth-born Jamal Bajandouh – more popularly known as Jamal – made his debut for Wimborne in February following a spell playing in Saudi Arabia.

The 19-year-old impressed and even left his sickbed for a starring role in Wimborne’s Dorset Senior Cup Final clash against Dorchester Town.

Jamal’s departure highlights Wimborne Town’s strong relationship with AFC Bournemouth. Three young Cherries players arrived for loan spells at Cuthbury last term which proved to be beneficial for both clubs.

Wimborne boss Steve Cuss, who is also head of the Cherries Community Sports Trust, said: “Jamal has signed for AFC Bournemouth’s new development squad.

“Last season we had three Cherries players – Dan Strugnell, Alex Parsons and Josh Wakefield – here on loan. And they all went on to make their first team debuts at AFC Bournemouth following their spells with Wimborne.

“We hope that trend will continue.”

Wimborne Town skipper Scott Arnold was a happy man at the club’s Annual Presentation Night as he picked up two awards.

Arnold, who returned to Cuthbury as one of Steve Cuss’ major signings last summer was named “Players’ Player of the Year” and “Manager’s Player of the Year.”

“I’m really happy to have won those two awards,” he said.

“In my last spell at the club I won the Supporters award. But to win both the Player’s Player and Manager’s Player nominations is very special.”

Nathan Peprah-Annan, whose arrival helped boost the Magpies defensive capabilities, was named “Supporters’ Player of the Year.”

Goalkeeper Dan Ackerman, who has excelled when coming on as substitute for Jason Harvell, or when making a start, was named “Chairman’s Player of the Year.”

Matt Kemble, despite seeing his season ended early because of injury, picked up the “Top Scorer” award. And defender Jordan Cole received the Ted Ryder Shield after being named the “Most Improved Player.”
